Nancy Plowman Associates, Inc.

Nancy Plowman Sandreuter is president of Nancy Plowman Associates, Inc. A graduate of the University of Maine, Plowman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a minor in Chemistry. She was at the S. D. Warren Paper Company, a Printing Paper Subsidiary of Scott Paper Company, for 17 years, working both in coating research and in the Graphic Arts testing group. She later joined Acme Printing Company, a commercial web and sheet fed offset printer, and in 1985 started her own business, Nancy Plowman Associates, specializing in ink and paper testing, and diagnosing print related complaints of all types.

Plowman is a recognized expert in the printing/paper field, speaking at many events for clubs and organizations. She received the Coating and Graphic Arts Division and WestRock Outstanding Educator Reward in 2017 and was honored as a TAPPI Fellow in 2018.

Peter Hayes
Peter Hayes


Peter Hayes is a retired polymer chemist who worked for BASF and Omnova for over 30 years.

During his career he developed and commercialized innovative latex binders for packaging and graphical coated paper grades. Hayes experience covers styrene butadiene, styrene acrylate, and vinyl acetate emulsion polymers together with rheology additives. He is the author of 30 patents and publications.

Dr. Wolfgang Bauer is professor in Paper and Pulp Technology, Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Technical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, and Head of the Institute of Bioproducts and Paper Technology at Graz University of Technology in Austria. His research interests are in the field of paper physics. coating technology and lignocellulosic biorefinery products. After receiving his Ph.D. in Chemical and Process Engineering, he worked for 12 years with Sappi Fine Paper Europe in various leading positions in R&D and in process and quality management, before returning to the university in 2003.

Dr. Bauer is president of the Austrian Association of Academic Paper Engineers, member of the Pulp and Paper Fundamental Research Committee and of the Zellcheming expert committees "Coating" and "Education". He has been a TAPPI member since 1996 and presently is a member of the Coating Fundamentals, Paper Physics and International Research Management Committees. He has authored more than 200 peer reviewed papers in journals and conference proceedings.
